TeacherReviews Preview is online
May 24, 2004 1:49 PM
Over the weekend I launched the preview of the new TeacherReviews.com. It shows off the new look designed by foO. Many of the new features I've been working on aren't part of the preview yet. I figure something is better than nothing. As I finish features I'll be adding them to the site.
Also in TeacherReviews news, John Hicks of Hicks Design, who created the Firefox logo and Thunderbird logo for the Mozilla-based browser and email tools, will be creating the new logo for TeacherReviews. He's extremely busy with other projects right now so we wont see his design until August, but the wait should be worth it.

Bill - I deleted your comment because what you wrote is simply not true. I'm currently waiting for legal assistance before I put the rest of the site online. The "legal precedence" with TeacherReview.com (which is the same site now) wouldn't up in court because the professors involved dismissed the lawsuit the day before the case was to be heard.

What I wrote simply isn't true? Then why delete it? Were it false, you would simply say "The above comment is false, and I stand on my record." But because what I said is true, you fear people catching on to your scheme, so you remove the thought from their head entirely. Censorship from a blogger. For shame.
And in fact, the legal precedent I was referring to was the anti-SLAPP suit legislation. That's why people and professors that sue sites like yours have to pay for BOTH parties' legal fees, and endure strong lectures from judges at their first hearing. Any third grader.

Send me an email and I'll send you the information. Sometimes spam filters incorrectly filter out TeacherReviews/Paypal emails.
My contact information link is at the bottom of this page.

How interesting that OVER a year later, the PayPal begging continues and the site is still not online. Dylan previously stated "I'm currently waiting for legal assistance before I put the rest of the site online." Still waiting, huh? Sounds to me like you have grown addicted to the income TR brings in from the donations and don't want to turn it into a free site again.
Why continue to hide behind a facade of "seeking donations"? Why not just admit you're charging for the service from now on? At least that way what you're doing would be ethical.
Continuing to hide behind the facade of "I don't want to risk litigation" is silly, too. Whether the site is hidden behind a login or not (in other words, whether you charge for the service or not), you're subject to the same libel laws regardless. Were you really concerned about litigation, you wouldn't have the site up in *any* form. As another poster pointed out, getting any lawsuit dismissed would be a piece of cake (ask any libel attorney), and you would not owe a dime in legal fees.
Surely no one continues to believe over a year's worth of lame excuses.
