Billy Goat Trail at Great Falls Park, Virgina

Sunday, July 3, 2005
I went hiking on the Billy Goat Trail with a friend, Jessica Bailey, who I hadn't seen in 20+ years.  We were best friends from about kindergarten to second grade, and after my family moved we never saw or heard from each other again.  Well, recently she found me through this site, and we met up and went hiking.

Beautiful pics! I have gotten an invitation to go on section A of Billy Goat- I haven't been hiking since I was a kid...I am generally good as far as fitness and endurance (though I'm not Tony Horton or anything, lol)...How is this trail REALLY for amateurs?

The 1st time I did the hike. It was with a group of people. The group was going at a certain pass.  I couldn't keep up with them. I was way behind, me and a couple of other new beginners. I kept asking "are we almost finish?" But I hadn't been exercising in years, and I'm a "little" over wieght.  But even with all that, I didn't take the emergency trial (there is only one emergency trail, so take it if thats what you want to do) I wanted to see how far I could go.  I really felt good about myself when i finished.  I was last but I did it.

Now I take my kids on the weekends and its fun.  Its still a good workout and a beautiful trail to see (if you like nature).

Very nice pictures.  Wish I could take nice ones like that.  You have me wanting to read my camara manual now!  Maybe even buy a photography book!  I have enjoyed this trail many times.  A few times with my 7 year old too. I would recomend taking food and water for sure.  It's no 20 minute hike!  Hee Hee...Thanks.

Your pictures are awesome.  Thanks for posting hi resolution.  I just did  the Billy Goat Trail Secttion A with my family today and it was the best time ever.  I've lived here my entire life and have never done section A (with the cliffs, cliff climb) before today.  What a great time.  Thanks again for posting such great photos.
